About This Role

As an Emergency Department RN at NVRH, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent conditions. This role demands adaptability, clinical expertise, and compassionate communication as you respond to diverse medical situations in a critical access hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate and comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment for patients of all ages in emergency situations

  • Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and operate specialized emergency equipment while adhering to evidence-based protocols

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to stabilize patients and coordinate care transitions

  • Educate patients and families during high-stress situations, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and mentor new staff within the Emergency Department

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred

  • Current Vermont or multi-state RN license required

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required

  • TNCC preferred; PALS certification required within 1 year of hire

  • Emergency nursing experience preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical skills and interest in emergency care are encouraged to apply
