Harbor Health POSITION OVERVIEW

Harbor Health is seeking skilled Patient Reception Specialists (PRSs) to join our growing team. Harbor Health is an entirely new multi-specialty clinic group in Austin, TX utilizing a modern approach to co-create health with those who get, give, and pay for it — allowing everyone to fully flourish. As the face of our clinics, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient support and communication, welcoming members, and facilitating a seamless experience that builds satisfaction, trust, and organizational loyalty. You will work collaboratively with our care team to deliver a member-centered experience that aligns with our mission of transforming healthcare through our payvider model.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Member Experience & Communication

  • Greet all patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner

  • Prepare patients for their appointments and inform them of relevant and required information for their visit

  • Provide clear communication to members around the services they are scheduled to receive

  • Proactively communicate unexpected schedule delays to patients and assist with member comfort should delays arise

  • Keep the reception and patient waiting areas clean and organized

Administrative & Documentation

  • Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver's licenses, authorizations, referrals, and other required appointment documentation and save them appropriately in the practice EMR

  • Perform demographic and insurance validation and inform patients of privacy policies and procedures

  • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up appointments per established policies and procedures

  • Collect patient co-payments, reconciliation charges, and outstanding balances upon check-in and submit batches daily

  • Other duties as assigned

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and insurance practices

  • Proficient in the use of computer programs and applications including Google Suite and practice EMR systems

  • Competency in basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make change accurately

  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding

  • Excellent customer service skills with a positive, proactive service attitude

  • Effective professional communication — verbal and written — with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member while functioning independently with sound judgment

  • Flexibility to shift priorities, maintain confidentiality, and establish effective interpersonal work relationships

Preferred

  • Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or emergency room settings

  • Current BLS Certification for healthcare providers

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
