TITLE: Senior Analyst, Category Profit Improvement

JOB LOCATION: 350 Campus Drive, Marlborough, MA 01752

DUTIES: provide fact-based and data-driven guidance to the Manager of Merchant Analytics and Merchandise leaders in selecting vendors, brands, and SKU’s that result in increased sales and profit. Conduct rigorous, hypothesis-driven analysis and research, including competitive benchmarking (space, brands, SKUs), market insights, customer insights (i.e., surveys, loyalty analysis), vendor insight (i.e., cost structures, investment analysis) and extensive SKU/brand/vendor-level analysis (i.e., relative productivity, profitability, brand loyalty, SKU transferability, etc.).

• Work with manager to develop category review documentation that highlights category insights that build into category strategies to grow market share and/or profitability.

• Develop category CDTs (consumer decision trees) and benchmark share and growth by segment to rest of market that help inform our assortment strategies.

• Run scenario assortment modeling based off member loyalty data that projects where volume will transfer to/walk and quantify impacts to sales/margins due to assortment changes.

• Work cross functionally to validate and approve assortment strategies and anticipated financial impacts based off strategic decisions put forth.

• Serve Merchant team as point person for all Ad-Hoc SKU based analytical research focused on assortment, sales, and cost.

• Translate business requirements into statistical parameters for merchandising tests

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Business Analytics, Applied Statistics, or foreign equivalent or related field with 1 year experience as Merchandise Planner or related; 1 year experience must include Provided ad hoc analysis to help merchant team make future business decisions; Analyzed sales performances against expected results to determine variances and provide recommendations for adjustments; Utilized planning tools to forecast Vendor, classification, and department level Sales revenue, margin, inventory, and turn based on historical trends and planned initiatives, to achieve budgeted goals; Presented monthly financial reforecast to Planning and Merchant Directors, with supporting data for changes made; Forecasted ads and seasonal promotions. Made recommendations on product offers to maximize sales and margin while minimizing residuals; Experience may be gained concurrently.

SALARY RANGE: $113k-$120k

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
