Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney | Medical Board Defense to join their established California defense practice. This individual will be responsible for representing physicians and healthcare professionals facing investigations, disciplinary actions, and licensing matters before the California Medical Board and other regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient attorney who can independently manage matters from intake through resolution while providing strategic legal counsel, courtroom advocacy, and client guidance throughout the legal process.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent healthcare professionals in Medical Board investigations, hearings, and disciplinary proceedings.
- Review medical records, complaint files, and supporting evidence to develop defense strategies.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and legal correspondence.
- Manage cases from inception through resolution with minimal supervision.
- Conduct hearings, negotiations, settlement discussions, and courtroom advocacy.
- Prepare clients for testimony and administrative proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and manage multiple active matters simultaneously.
- Advise clients on California healthcare law, licensing regulations, and disciplinary matters.
- Collaborate with firm leadership and attorneys to develop case strategy and best practices.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the life of each matter.
Location: Glendale, CA (Hybrid) Compensation: $185,000 - $215,000 + bonus potential Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, Medical Board Defense expertise, and overall qualifications.

Skills and Requirements
- Active California State Bar License in good standing.
- 5+ years of experience defending healthcare professionals, specifically in Medical Board, healthcare licensing, or related regulatory matters.
- Experience independently handling cases from inception through resolution.
- Defense litigation experience required.
- Strong legal research, writing, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Experience managing investigations, hearings, disciplinary proceedings, and complex litigation matters.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
- Experience developing legal strategy and representing clients in high-stakes matters.
- Direct California Medical Board Defense experience.
- Medical Malpractice Defense experience.
- Healthcare Licensing Defense experience.
- Healthcare Regulatory Law experience.
- Professional Liability Defense experience.
- Experience representing physicians, healthcare providers, hospitals, or healthcare organizations.
