What You Will Be Doing The Eligibility Technician 2 position is responsible for timely and accurate eligibility assessments and benefit applications for Social Security, Division of Public Assistance, and Title XIX Medicaid programs on behalf of clients of the Public Guardian. The ET must be proficient with or able to quickly become proficient with multiple systems including, but not limited to Estate Management Software (EMS), Eligibility Information System (EIS), the Department of Labor Employment System, the Department of Revenue Child Support Enforcement computer system, NSTAR, and Microsoft Office programs. In addition to new applications, this ET position is responsible for tracking and completing renewal notices and recertifications for these public entitlement programs. The ET Position will be supporting guardians statewide.

Our Organization, Mission, and Culture The Office of Public Advocacy (OPA) provides legal advocacy and guardianship services to vulnerable Alaskans. With offices in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, Kenai, Palmer, and Bethel, OPA advocates for abused and neglected children in protective proceedings, provides public guardianship for incapacitated adults, and provides attorney services for respondents in adult guardianship proceedings, for parents in child in need of aid cases, and in conflict criminal cases received from the Public Defender Agency.

One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska;

OR

One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.

Substitution: Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).Please read the below information carefully.
