Full job description

Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support a manufacturing organization in Lisle, Illinois through a Long-term Contract assignment. This position focuses on tax-focused accounting work, including reconciling financial and tax records, maintaining exemption documentation, and helping ensure reporting accuracy across the accounting function. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound knowledge of tax compliance, and the capacity to manage detailed financial work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Review tax-related records, compare supporting data across systems, and resolve inconsistencies to maintain accurate financial information.

  • Track tax exemption documentation, follow up on outstanding items, and help keep records current and compliant.

  • Compile quarterly and annual tax filings and supporting schedules with a high level of accuracy.

  • Investigate issues that arise during reconciliation activities and apply accounting judgment to reach effective resolutions.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to confirm tax forms, records, and processes align with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor updates to tax rules and evaluate how changes may affect internal accounting practices and reporting.

  • Support periodic reviews of financial transactions and reports to strengthen accuracy and internal controls.

  • Recommend practical improvements to accounting and tax workflows to reduce errors and enhance compliance.

  • Develop financial reports related to trends, forecasts, budgets, and other analytical needs as requested.

The salary range for this position is $28 to $30/hour, plus bonus. Benefits are available including medical, vision, and dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.

  • At least 2 years of accounting experience, including work involving tax or reconciliations.

  • Strong understanding of tax laws, compliance requirements, and financial reporting principles.

  • Demonstrated experience with account reconciliation, research, analysis, and report preparation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, and comfort working in accounting systems such as SAP.

  • Hands-on experience with general ledger activity, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and daily reconciliations.

  • Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work productively with cross-functional teams.
