Description
A growing and established organization is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This hands-on role is responsible for a variety of general accounting functions, including account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close activities, financial reporting support, inventory accounting, and job costing. The ideal candidate understands how transactions flow through the general ledger and financial statements and can independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies. Strong experience with QuickBooks Desktop is required, including working in a complex environment with multiple entities, inventory, job costing, classes, and a high volume of transactions.
This position is located 100% onsite in Hayden, Idaho.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Month-End Close

Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.

Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Review general ledger activity for accuracy, completeness, and account classification.

Support accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other month-end adjustments.

Analyze revenue, expenses, inventory, job costs, and other financial data.

Assist with accounting system cleanup and process improvement initiatives.

Maintain the chart of accounts, classes, customers/jobs, inventory items, and related accounting records.
Inventory & Job Costing

Assist with inventory reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
-
Review inventory transactions for proper accounting treatment and classification.
-
Support accounting for inventory purchases, usage, adjustments, and processing activities.
-
Help ensure accurate job costing and project profitability reporting.

Research costing discrepancies and partner with operational teams to resolve issues.
External Reporting & Year-End Support

Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external accountants and advisors.

Assist with year-end accounting, tax, audit, and financial reporting requests.

Provide documentation and support for audits, reviews, and compliance requirements.

Research accounting questions and provide supporting analysis as needed.
Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows.

Assist with documenting procedures and establishing consistent accounting practices.

Participate in accounting projects focused on data accuracy and operational efficiency.

Collaborate across departments to improve the quality and consistency of financial information.

SALARY RANGE: $70,000-$80,000

Requirements
Qualifications
-
Strong QuickBooks Desktop experience required.

5+ years of general accounting experience preferred.

Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.

Experience supporting month-end close processes.

Job costing, project accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing accounting experience preferred.

Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze financial data.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to research and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Experience with process improvement and documentation initiatives is a plus.
