Job Title: Facilities Technician Job Description
The Building Facilities and Maintenance Technician ensures the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of building facilities and equipment. This role focuses on performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and supporting the reliability and safety of the building infrastructure. The technician contributes directly to keeping the facility running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and building codes.
Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of building facilities to identify, prioritize, and address maintenance needs in a timely manner.

Repair and maintain building systems and components, including lighting, fans, motors, and water pipes.

Ensure all building facilities and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and building codes.

Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs, maintenance services, and projects when needed.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on machinery and equipment, identifying root causes of failures.

Replace defective parts and components in machinery and equipment to restore safe and efficient operation.

Ensure all machinery and equipment are operated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.

Collaborate with other departments to understand and resolve maintenance-related issues impacting operations.

Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment in all maintenance and facility areas.

Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and support quick resolution of urgent facility issues.

Adhere to all safety practices and guidelines while working in confined spaces, at heights, and when lifting or moving heavy objects.
Essential Skills

Experience in building facilities maintenance, including routine inspections and repairs.

Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working with machinery, equipment, and building systems.

Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting on building systems and equipment.

Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Familiarity with safety regulations, safe work practices, and building code considerations.

Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail when diagnosing and resolving maintenance issues.

Excellent communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and contractors and document work clearly.

Effective teamwork abilities to collaborate with other departments and support shared facility goals.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

Reliability and a strong track record of attendance and punctuality.

Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces and at heights, and stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience with engines, equipment, or machinery in an industrial or facilities setting.

Work Environment
This is a day-shift role in a building facilities and maintenance setting. During training, which typically lasts 2 to 4 weeks, hours are approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with occasional overtime on Fridays. After training, the schedule moves to four 10-hour shifts starting at 7:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with the need to be comfortable working up to 50 hours occasionally. The work involves regular use of hand and power tools, interaction with building systems such as lighting, fans, motors, water pipes, and machinery with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. The environment requires working in confined spaces and at heights, standing and walking for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Safety, cleanliness, and organization are emphasized throughout the facility.

This is a Contract position based out of Cornelius, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $29.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
