Full job description
Job DescriptionThe Legal Manager position is responsible for overseeing functions of the Law department. The position serves as liaison to the Human Resources department, supervises support staff, and maintains department files and records. Essential Duties• Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; providing backup as needed due to workload fluctuations or absences; reviewing and approving time sheets and leave requests; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Manages personnel issues to include FMLA requests, complaints and grievances; and prepares, reviews, and forwards related documents for Department Director’s approval.
- Maintains Law Department files and records, including the department law library.
- Serves as backup for the Open Records Officer to include: coordinating and managing the electronic open records system; responding to requests for public records in accordance with the Georgia Open Records Act; and providing guidance to open records departmental liaisons.
Public Speaking Duties• Leads support staff meetings.
- Presents information at staff meetings.
- Speaks to members of the public as needed.
Grade The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications• Associate's degree in Legal studies, or a related field AND
-
5 years of progressively responsible legal support experience.• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

Management/Supervisory experience in a legal department or law office.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Paralegal certificate.
- Oracle Fusion Cloud experience.
