Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Director of Emerging Threats to join the Global Marketplace organization for a large retail client. This person will lead programs focused on identifying and mitigating complex seller risks throughout the seller lifecycle, including onboarding, identity verification, ongoing monitoring, lifecycle performance, and global expansion.

This leader will partner closely with Data Science, Engineering, Trust & Safety, Compliance, Product, and Business Development teams to build scalable and proactive risk management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Walmart Marketplace's emerging threats strategy across seller onboarding, monitoring, and enforcement.
  • Identify and assess new fraud vectors, including:
  • Identity fraud
  • Behavioral risks
  • Counterfeit activity
  • Prohibited and restricted goods violations
  • Seller misrepresentation
  • Coordinated bad-actor networks
  • Develop risk frameworks and early-warning detection strategies throughout the seller lifecycle.
  • Partner with Data Science and Engineering teams to build:
  • Risk models
  • Automation capabilities
  • Dashboards
  • Detection tooling
  • Establish risk appetite, governance processes, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Trust & Safety, Compliance, Risk Oversight, and Monitoring teams.
  • Deliver executive-level briefings regarding:
  • Threat trends
  • Risk tradeoffs
  • Recommended interventions
  • Serve as the Marketplace risk representative with external partners, including:
  • Verification vendors
  • Payment providers
  • Industry consortiums
  • Lead and develop a global team of analysts, investigators, and risk strategists.
  • Drive continuous improvements in threat detection, prevention, and response capabilities.

Skills and Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in:

  • Marketplace Risk

  • Fraud

  • Trust & Safety

  • Underwriting

  • Financial Crimes

  • 5+ years leading high-performing teams of 10+ employees.

  • Deep expertise in:

  • Seller fraud

  • Identity risk

  • Counterfeit detection

  • Prohibited and restricted goods risk

  • Strong analytics and strategic problem-solving experience.

  • Prior experience in payments and marketplace risk management.

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders in fast-paced environments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience partnering with Engineering and Data Science teams to operationalize risk policies and fraud controls. Ability to navigate evolving global regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Experience within a large-scale marketplace or eCommerce organization.

  • Experience building machine-learning-driven risk models.

  • Threat intelligence experience.

  • Global expansion, Trust & Safety, or marketplace governance experience.

  • Experience designing early-warning systems for emerging threats. Background leading highly technical, data-driven risk organizations.
