Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for supporting information technology operations. Typical work assignments will include: Providing general office support to Information Technology staff using typing skills and knowledge of office automation hardware and software. Processing a variety of routine IT-related documents and ensuring proper format, accuracy, and completeness. Organizing and maintaining electronic and hard-copy office files. Developing basic database or spreadsheet applications to store, manipulate, sort, and report statistical or other information from office records. Troubleshooting and providing technical assistance for routine IT hardware and software issues. Performing diagnostics and analyzing basic malfunctions to determine cause and recommend solutions. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Qualifications

GS-05: To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in Federal service as defined below; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized experience is defined as performing clerical and administrative support duties such as preparing routine documents using standard office software; maintaining electronic and paper files; entering and updating data in systems or databases; and answering telephones and responding to inquires Combining Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience (as defined above) and post-high school education may be used to meet the total experience requirements for the GS-5 grade level. Only post-high school education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the qualification requirements. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. GS-6: To be qualified at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level. Specialized experience is defined as performing advanced clerical and technical support such as using multiple office automation software systems to produce, prepare, integrate, and format documents, charts, tables, and graphics; developing and managing database or spreadsheet software to store, analyze, and retrieve data; developing statistical reports; opening service tickets and routing for resolution; and assisting with equipment inventory and distribution. GS-7: To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is defined as performing advanced clerical and technical support duties such as using multiple office automation software systems to prepare, edit, and format a wide range of documents; assisting Tier I IT helpdesk operations by troubleshooting routine hardware and software issues, performing diagnostics, and analyzing malfunctions; monitoring group mailboxes and processing and maintaining user access within Active Directory and E-LAN environments; managing IT equipment issuance, recovery, tracking, and inventory ; and coordinating equipment repairs Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
