Capture Creativity and Inspire Future Photographers as an Adjunct Digital Photography Adjunct Instructor at CWI!

Are you an experienced photographer passionate about sharing your industry knowledge and creative expertise with students? The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking anAdjunct Digital Photography Instructorto teach lower-divisionDigital Photography IIcourses as part of CWI’s new Career Technical Education (CTE) Digital Photography program beginning inSpring 2027.

In this role, you’ll combine real-world photography experience with student-centered instruction to help learners strengthen their technical skills, creative vision, and understanding of professional photography practices.

As an Adjunct Digital Photography Instructor, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape an emerging program, introduce students to current industry practices and technology, and prepare aspiring photographers to take their next steps professionally and creatively.

Teaching & Instructional Excellence:

  • Teach assigned material from the approved Digital Photography curriculum

  • Develop engaging daily lesson plans and instructional materials using current digital tools and technologies

  • Utilize student-centered instructional methods that support the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs of CWI students

  • Deliver hands-on instruction that strengthens students’ technical and creative photography skills

  • Meet all scheduled classes promptly and communicate any schedule changes through appropriate college channels

Photography, Technology & Industry Expertise:

  • Provide instruction in digital camera systems, photographic composition, lighting, and post-processing techniques

  • Incorporate Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Lightroom, into instructional activities

  • Apply knowledge of DSLR and mirrorless camera workflows to classroom and lab instruction

  • Remain current with photography industry trends, software, equipment, and emerging technologies

  • Incorporate relevant studio, portrait, commercial, and other professional photography practices into the student learning experience

Student Learning & Assessment:

  • Utilize established learning outcomes and assessment measures to evaluate student achievement

  • Monitor and accurately record student progress

  • Provide regular, timely, and constructive feedback to support student learning

  • Participate in instructional evaluation processes

  • Continuously improve course content, instructional delivery, and assessment strategies based on student needs, feedback, and evolving industry practices

Collaboration & Professional Engagement:

  • Collaborate with faculty and program leadership to support the continued development of CWI’s Digital Photography program

  • Read, understand, and adhere to the Business Letter of Teaching Appointment and Faculty Expectations

  • Maintain accurate instructional and student records and meet established college deadlines

  • Contribute to team and program goals through additional related responsibilities as assigned

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • This adjunct opportunity is anticipated to begin inSpring 2027

  • Courses will be taught at CWI’sCanyon County Campus, where the Digital Photography program is currently located

  • Teaching assignments may be scheduled Monday through Friday during the day or evening, or on Saturdays

  • Course assignments and schedules are based on departmental and enrollment needs

  • Successful candidates must reside inIdaho by their first day of employment with CWI

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography or a related field from an accredited college or university

  • Three (3) years of full-time professional experience in digital photography

  • Strong knowledge of digital camera systems, composition, lighting, and post-processing techniques

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Lightroom

  • Experience with studio lighting, portrait photography, and/or commercial photography techniques

  • Ability to translate professional photography knowledge into engaging, hands-on learning experiences

  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and continuous instructional improvement

Additional Instructions For Applicants:

Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
