Your role and responsibilities

As a Product Manager, you will play a key role in delivering business results by bringing high-quality products to market. You will be responsible for defining the strategy and execution plans while continuously innovating to achieve market leadership.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Learn Market Analysis: Observe and learn from market and business analysis to understand product definition, product roadmap, pricing, ecosystem, and channel strategy. You will explore how to analyze competitive landscapes and identify opportunities for innovation.

  • Assist in Product Lifecycle Management: Participate in managing the product lifecycle from inception through growth, maturity, and end of life stages. You will engage with cross-functional teams to deliver a successful product with defined routes to market.

  • Support Partnership Strategy: Contribute to defining partnership and ecosystem strategy for product execution. You will assist in maximizing internal and external relationships with design, product marketing, ecosystem partners, analysts, engineering, sales, and services teams.

  • Engage in Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with various teams to deliver a successful product. You will participate in discussions with design, product marketing, ecosystem partners, analysts, engineering, sales, and services teams to ensure effective collaboration.

  • Explore Industry Expertise: Learn from experts in the field and explore how to become a credible voice in the market. You will observe and learn from industry trends and best practices to develop your skills.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Exposure to Market Analysis: Basic understanding of market and business analysis concepts, including product definition, product roadmap, pricing, ecosystem, and channel strategy.

  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle: Interest in managing the product lifecycle from inception through growth, maturity, and end of life stages.

  • Basic Understanding of Partnership Strategy: Exposure to defining partnership and ecosystem strategy for product execution.

  • Introduction to Cross-Functional Teams: Curiosity about collaborating with various teams, including design, product marketing, ecosystem partners, analysts, engineering, sales, and services teams.

  • Awareness of Industry Trends: Basic understanding of industry trends and best practices in product management.

  • Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at the time of application and returning to complete the degree after the co-op.

  • Available to start full-time between December 2027 and August 2028.

  • Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) at an IBM location for 16 weeks between Jan 19 - May 7.

  • Co-op requires a full-time commitment; students should not be enrolled in concurrent coursework during the co-op term.

  • Understanding of product management principles and user-centered thinking.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or data workflows through coursework or projects.

  • Experience with Agile practices and collaborative work environments.

  • Ability to analyze data and communicate insights clearly.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred technical and professional experience
