Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer for one of our top bridge manufacturing and infrastructure clients in the Columbus, OH area. This individual will play a critical role in driving new business growth across the bridge, transportation, and heavy civil infrastructure markets. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of technical expertise, industry relationships, and business development experience, enabling them to identify opportunities early, influence project specifications, and ultimately win work.
This position is ideal for someone who understands how infrastructure projects progress from planning and design through bidding, award, and construction. The successful candidate will have an established network within the bridge or transportation industry, a consultative sales approach, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Responsibilities Develop and expand relationships with contractors, engineering firms, DOTs, municipalities, and other infrastructure stakeholders. Identify, qualify, and pursue new bridge and infrastructure opportunities throughout assigned territories. Engage customers and engineering teams early in the project lifecycle to position the organization for future work. Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements and develop competitive infrastructure solutions. Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle, including prospecting, estimating coordination, proposal development, negotiations, and project award. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents to support opportunity evaluation and proposal strategy. Maintain an active pipeline and provide accurate forecasting of business opportunities. Represent the company at customer meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events. Foster long-term customer relationships to generate repeat business and identify future project opportunities. Partner closely with internal engineering and operational teams to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.
Skills and Requirements
Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in technical sales, engineering, bridge construction, transportation infrastructure, or heavy civil construction. Demonstrated success developing new business and generating revenue within infrastructure-related markets. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and bid documents. Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Experience managing a sales pipeline and driving opportunities from prospecting to award. Willingness to travel approximately 20%. Preferred Qualifications Existing relationships with contractors, engineering consultants, DOTs, municipalities, or infrastructure owners. Experience within the bridge, structural steel, transportation, or heavy civil construction industries. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience selling technically complex products or solutions to engineering and construction customers. Knowledge of bridge design, fabrication, or infrastructure project delivery methods.
Compensation:
$95,000 - $120,000
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
