Basic Job Functions:

The Electrical Engineering intern will work closely with an electrical engineering mentor as well as with electrical engineers, maintenance, and production teammates to execute continuous improvement projects on-site. The responsibilities as a mechanical engineering intern will vary day to day as the position is involved in many different aspects of engineering.

The responsibilities of an Electrical Engineering Intern at Nucor include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and implementation of new systems and modification of existing equipment

  • Improve production and maintenance processes, keep accurate documentation for all improvements.

  • Provide technical expertise regarding electrical, automation, and network systems.

  • Failure analysis/troubleshooting

  • Work in cooperation with other departments or teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Seeking a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering (Aerospace and ISE will be considered)

  • Minimum collegiate GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to generate and interpret electrical drawings & schematics. AutoCAD or AutoCAD electrical experience preferred.

  • Experience with SolidWorks, 20/30 CAD, and/or other equivalent modeling software.

  • SCADA/historical data analysis applied to root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
