Operations & Safety Manager
The Operations/Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and with company safety requirements. Responsible for continuous leadership, recruitment and training of operator candidates. Promotes strong leadership and influences positive employee morale throughout the location. This position is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Key Responsibilities:
-
Supervise and support daily transit operations, including Operators, Dispatchers, Schedulers, and Road Supervisors, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service.

Lead employee performance management, scheduling, coaching, training, onboarding, and ongoing development.
-
Monitor operational performance, address service issues, and implement improvements to meet contractual and company standards.
-
Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations.
-
Partner with union representatives, Human Resources, and leadership to address employee relations, grievances, attendance, and disciplinary matters.
-
Oversee operational reporting, payroll review, compliance documentation, incident investigations, and other administrative functions.
-
Support employee training programs, certifications, ride-alongs, and field observations to maintain service quality and operational excellence.

Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or GED required
-
Minimum of (3) years’ experience in the passenger transportation industry.
-
Strong leadership, employee development, and problem-solving skills.
-
Knowledge of transit operations and applicable federal, state, and local safety and regulatory requirements.
-
Experience working in a unionized environment, including employee relations and conflict resolution.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Trapeze or similar transit management systems preferred.
-
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-
Ability to travel occasionally for meetings and training (less than 5% travel).
-
Experience in location safety management and/or operations management.
-
Providing quality training, including the creation and management of training materials.
-
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.

Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
-
Push and pull objects up to 150 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
-
Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
