Property Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support residential property accounting operations. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can manage core accounting activities with accuracy, maintain reliable financial records, and contribute to timely month-end reporting. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with property accounting systems and is comfortable handling reconciliations, journal activity, and general ledger support in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks for a residential property portfolio, ensuring financial data is recorded accurately and consistently.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and other month-end adjustments, to support complete and timely financial reporting.

• Reconcile bank accounts and tenant-related receivable balances, researching and resolving discrepancies as they arise.

• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, validating account activity, and supporting the monthly close process.

• Use property management and accounting platforms such as Entrada and Yardi to process financial information and generate reporting as needed.

• Assist with month-end close activities by organizing supporting documentation and helping ensure deadlines are met.

• Monitor accounting records for completeness and compliance with established property accounting practices.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to address accounting questions and provide updates on residential financial activity. Requirements • Proven experience in property accounting, preferably supporting residential properties.

• Working knowledge of Yardi software and the ability to learn or use Entrada effectively.

• Hands-on experience with month-end close procedures, including accrual accounting and journal entry preparation.

• Strong understanding of general ledger structure, account reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.

• Ability to reconcile bank accounts and accounts receivable with a high level of accuracy.

• Proficiency in identifying discrepancies, investigating issues, and resolving accounting variances.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a Contract assignment.
