The Buyer is responsible for commodities or assignments requiring application of basic purchasing principles, theories and concepts. The Buyer ensures timely acquisitions of product or service from known sources of supply. Additionally, the Buyer may resolve issues in the areas of requisition accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery or supplier payment functioning in a closely supervised environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchases parts and materials by submitting purchase orders with approved suppliers. Issues purchase orders and agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers. Maintains accurate lead times for assigned commodities.

Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to help ensure on-time delivery.

Support production planning activities by helping schedule and track material availability, work orders, and production requirements.

Help maintain accurate purchasing, planning, and part data, including lead times, order status, supplier information, and inventory records.

Communicate with internal teams regarding material shortages, supplier delays, production schedule changes, or potential delivery risks.

Assist in resolving basic supplier, shipment, quality, invoice, or receiving discrepancies with guidance from senior team members.

Prepare and update reports related to purchase orders, supplier performance, inventory levels, material availability, and production status.

Support inventory management efforts by helping balance material availability with inventory cost and turn objectives.

Participates in supplier site visits and evaluates them as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria

Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on cost reduction, process efficiency, lead time reduction, and improved on-time delivery.

Assist with identifying alternate suppliers and gathering information on supplier capabilities, delivery performance, and quality history.
WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
REQUIRED
Bachelors degree (BA) in Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through two or more years of increasingly responsible related purchasing experience. Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or APICS desired.
