Summary

About the Position: The Clinical Psychologist (Mental Health) position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center located at San Antonio, TX. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

  • Make mental health diagnoses in accordance with the DSM-5-TR criteria or other accepted standards.
  • Provide individual and group treatment, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused interventions, cognitive-mental therapy, and psychoeducational classes.
  • Maintain appropriate patient care documentation in accordance with prescribed SOPs, guidance, DoD, federal and state regulations as well as professional ethics.
  • Collaborate with staff within the department and across the medical treatment facility to ensure the most appropriate patient care is being delivered.
  • Perform biopsychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of clinical psychology.
  • Provide expertise in human behavior as a mental health team member and provides consultation to specialty clinic providers regarding psychological treatment options to optimize health outcomes.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist (Mental Health): Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes making mental health diagnoses; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). License: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
