Description: Position Title: Endocrinologist Name of Employer: Mercy Clinics, Inc., D/B/A MercyOne Medical Group Central Iowa Job Locations: 411 Laurel St., Suite 3262, Des Moines, IA 50314 Hours: Full-time
Job Duties: Diagnoses and treats disorders of the endocrine system including hormone production by the pituitary glands, pancreas, thyroid and other internal organs. Patient conditions treated include diabetes, thyroid disease, obesity, infertility, osteoporosis and metabolic disorders. Performs physical examinations and symptom review to aid in diagnosis along with excitation/stimulation or inhibition/suppression laboratory testing analysis. Evaluates diagnostic imaging of endocrine organs to determine disease presentations. Performs diagnostic procedures including fine needle biopsies, blood glucose monitoring and bone density testing. Helps diabetic patients control their blood sugar through continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump management; prescribes hormone replacement therapies for women undergoing menopause; creates diet and exercise regimens for patients with lipid disorders; and provides hospital consultations as necessary.
Required Minimum Position Qualifications: Doctorate in Medicine, Osteopathy, or foreign equivalent
Applicant must also have: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Iowa. Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Internal Medicine. Successful completion of fellowship in Endocrinology.
