Full job description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a hybrid team in Minnesota. This role supports core accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, contributing to the close cycle, and helping ensure adherence to established accounting practices and internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound judgment, and the organization needed to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic software environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Record accounting activity through journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and other required adjustments.

  • Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, research variances, and maintain clear supporting schedules.

  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures to help deliver timely and accurate financial results.

  • Review transactions for proper account classification and alignment with company accounting policies.

  • Prepare reports and financial data summaries for internal stakeholders and management review.

  • Analyze account activity to identify inconsistencies, unusual fluctuations, and opportunities for improved accuracy.

  • Support audit readiness by assembling documentation and responding to requests related to internal and external reviews.

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including customer account reconciliation and resolution of billing issues.

  • Track outstanding receivables, conduct collections follow-up, document communications, and escalate delinquent balances when appropriate.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve accounting workflows, strengthen compliance, and increase operational efficiency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, with public accounting exposure viewed favorably.

  • Familiarity with general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return processes is beneficial.

  • Proficiency with accounting software and strong Microsoft Excel capabilities.

  • Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in collections-related outreach.
