Summary
About the position: This position is a RFT (full-time) Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position assigned to the Ft Eustis Auto Hobby Shop on Joint Base Langley-Eustis VA - Ft Eustis location. Position is guaranteed 35 hours per week. This position may be subject to holidays, nights, weekends and on-call work.
Duties
Responsible for the administration, safe operation, custody, and maintenance of the self-directed programs within the auto crafts center and associated facilities. Informs patrons on shop policies and provides instruction on safe and efficient operation of all equipment and associated tools, also provides technical guidance to patrons when requested. Implements higher-level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional programs. Develops, promotes and conducts programs and events to highlight the Auto Hobby Shop program and increase patronage. Establishes, reviews, and evaluates purchase of supplies and equipment. Establishes financial goals, prepares budget, analyzes financial results and maintains solid financial condition of the program. Responsible for work force management, recruitment, and staff training of assigned staff. Manages real property resources. Promotes, organizes, schedules and conducts classes in basic auto care such as tire rotation, alignment, etc. . Ensures that maintenance and preventive maintenance are performed on all Auto Shop facilities and equipment. Ensures appropriate equipment and supplies are on hand. Performs cash handling and inventory duties and maintains accountability. Provides input on contracted auto mechanic contracts at initial set up and renewal. Provides oversight of contracts, taking rent/utility payments and assisting with customer complaints. Operates vehicles in the course of daily duties. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience that shows progressively responsible experience which provided a general knowledge of management principles and training. Requires working knowledge of maintenance equipment and automotive mechanics, skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, various types of mechanical repair; knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment; ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work; ability to communicate effectively and keep business records. Certification as an automotive technician is required. Experience in managing personnel is highly desirable. Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination. Must hove a valid state driver's license. Must be able to complete and maintain a satisfactory National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
