Full job description

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Engineer for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) system, known as the Sentinel Program.

The Sentinel Program is a large, longterm effort to replace the entire Minuteman III ICBM weapon system across five states. It will modernize or rebuild more than 500 facilities, field a new advanced missile, and deliver a completely new command and control system with updated airborne launch capability. Sentinel will roll out over about nine years starting in the late 2020s and is expected to remain in service through at least 2075.

Job Description:

This position will directly support the Sentinel Secondary Launch capability team as they acquire the weapon system command & control capabilities for the next generation ICBM. Areas of responsibility that fall under the Command Systems / Secondary Launch Team include:

  • Ensuring a survivable airborne command and control capability for the next generation ICBM

  • Codes and cryptographic processes and upgrades

Specifically, this Secondary Launch engineer will be responsible for supporting the U.S. Air Force customer in the review and evaluation of the Sentinel ICBM prime contractor s designs, documentation, architectures, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products related to Sentinel command & control subsystems. Additionally, this team engineer will work directly with Air Force stakeholders in managing the integration of government-furnished equipment and property into the Sentinel weapon system design. Our team provides expertise on weapon system and systems integration lab architectures; concepts of operation; modeling, simulation and analysis (MS&A); and plans for addressing command & control integration options. This team member will also coordinate and integrate actions with other project managers, engineers, logisticians, system testers, and external government agencies. Our current team includes staff with extensive subject matter expertise in the Minuteman III ICBM weapon system (including the Airborne Launch Control System) and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for this next generation ICBM system.

Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
