Activity Assistant - Dementia Care Experience Preferred
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Assistant to join our dedicated team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents with dementia. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the quality of life for our residents by creating a warm, stimulating, and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents with dementia
- Assess residents’ interests and abilities to develop personalized activity plans
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and social interaction
- Monitor and document residents’ responses to activities, noting any changes or special needs
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other team members to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans
- Maintain a safe and clean activity space, ensuring all equipment and materials are used appropriately
- Support residents in maintaining their dignity, independence, and emotional well-being
Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with seniors, particularly those with dementia or cognitive impairments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Creativity and enthusiasm in planning engaging activities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve residents’ quality of life
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in activity planning or dementia care are a plus
- Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control procedures
