Full job description

Job Summary: To render professional nursing care to GI & Hepatology patients including but not limited to; utilizing clinical expertise for procedural scheduling, medical and anesthesia clearance needs, screening patients for appropriate placement based on medical conditions and ASA levels. Collaborates with the medical staff and other members of the health care team to provide quality patient care. Performs all activities in accordance with approved policies and guides. Supervises and delegates appropriate duties to ancillary personnel.

Qualifications: Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact license). Bachelor’s degree required or greater than 5 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 2 years recent experience in an OR or Procedural area. BLS certification required. Endo experience or PACU recovery experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of Perianesthesia/perioperative or Endo nursing principles, methods, and techniques preferred. Demonstrates strong clinical critical thinking skills to determine necessary elements of medical and anesthesia clearance required, ability to assess accurate procedure location and ability to coordinate with office, endo and anesthesia to ensure highest level of patient safety. Demonstrates skill in performing nursing procedures; ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, other departments, and patient families. Strong communication and teaching skills to provide patient education and input to patient education materials. Meets general hospital and departmental competency requirements.
