The Sensing Product Design team is looking for a driven, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to own the end-to-end design, integration, and validation of mission-critical sensing modules across Apple’s product lineup. In this role, you sit at the intersection of mechanical design, advanced materials, precision packaging, and high-volume manufacturing. You will champion your module from early architectural conception through mass production—turning complex electromechanical challenges into elegant, reliable hardware. Description

In this role, you will be responsible for specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating touch sensing systems. You will own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology into Apple’s portfolio of products. You will work with a talented multifunctional team to generate design concepts. As the mechanical expert, you will be responsible for the engineering analysis and documentation for your piece of the project. At the end of the extraordinary team effort, your work will be in the hands of millions of people making a visible difference in their daily lives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design, failure analysis, or product validation.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting 2D technical drawings (GD&T).

  • Strong track record of applying structured root-cause methodologies and experimental design (DOE) to resolve complex electromechanical issues.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally (5%–10%) to support vendor bring-up and factory builds.

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis in MATLAB or JMP is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with sensor technology, analog/digital signals, flex circuits, IC packaging is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with the ability to articulate trade-offs and recommendations clearly.
