Full job description

Thriving communities. Healthy cities. A brighter future. What we do is more than building roads; we work every day to make the world better for everyone. If you want to join a company invested in you and your success, join us as a Transportation Engineering Co-op.

As a Transportation Engineering Co-op, you will work alongside experienced engineers and designers to support transportation projects from planning through design. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with DOT, county, and municipal projects while learning industry design standards, engineering practices, and project delivery processes. The transportation co-op position will rotate through three discipline focus areas within the first assignment semester before focusing within a discipline in subsequent co-op semesters. You will gain experience within the following transportation disciplines:

  • Structures/ bridges - support bridge projects through data collection, quantity takeoffs, drafting engineering details, and assisting with project deliverables.

  • Roadway/ highways - support project teams in developing roadway, intersection, and multi-modal transportation improvements through the preparation of roadway plans, profiles, cross sections, quantity calculations, cost estimates, and technical exhibits using industry-standard design software.

  • Traffic/ Safety - support data-driven safety assessments such as crash analyses, network screening, and systemic safety studies through data visualization and analysis, applying analytic tools, developing code/programming, and writing/documentation of findings.

We are looking for this co-op to start in January 2027, working through the Spring semester.

Pave the way for your career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed - today and into tomorrow.

  • Enrollment in a degree seeking program in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related field

  • Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (preferably AutoCAD Civil 3D)

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Previous experience design or transportation-related coursework

  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
