Full job description

Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Dallas, Texas and contribute to core accounting operations that support accurate financial reporting and cash activity. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior accounting leadership while handling revenue recognition, reconciliations, treasury support, and analysis across a dynamic business environment. The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior accounting team members to support financial activities.

  • Record recurring monthly revenue activity related to surface agreements, leases, easements, and material sales with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Contribute to the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with internal financial reporting.

  • Research accounting issues as they arise and take appropriate steps to resolve variances, discrepancies, and unusual transactions.

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual fluctuation and variance analyses to help explain financial results.

  • Prepare daily treasury-related reporting and assist with monitoring cash positions and short-term liquidity needs.

  • Support daily cash forecasting activities and help process cash movements and related transactions.

  • Coordinate and prepare cash deposits associated with oil and gas royalty activity and other related receipts.

  • Build effective working relationships across teams to gather information and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.

  • Maintain organized, accurate financial records while developing a strong understanding of the company’s legal entities and overall business structure.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.

  • At least 1 year of accounting experience is required; 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and experience preparing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial analyses.

  • Familiarity with cash forecasting, treasury reporting, and balance sheet account reconciliation is preferred.

  • Oil and gas industry experience is preferred, particularly in revenue reporting or royalty-related accounting.

  • CPA designation or progress toward certification is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Strong communication skills, sound judgment, confidentiality, and a collaborative, hands-on approach are essential.
