Summary
About the Position: This temporary position is located at a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system in Vilseck, Germany. Not-to-exceed 1 Year. This is a Temporary position and may be ended at any time.
Duties
- You will operate an Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) cash register coupled to a scanning system and scale and/or a stand-alone register system to record unit prices, proper accounts, purchase totals, surcharge and change.
- Scan items or enter proper Look-Up Code for random weight or scaled items such as produce.
- Receive and verify change fund and checks register.
- Responsible for answering questions and complaints of customers or refer to a supervisor.
- Perform other related duties such as pricing, stocking merchandise, cleaning work area, and may be required to participate in inventories.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: Six months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, answering questions and complaints from customers; counting cash till; and operating a cash register. OR Education: One year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages. Direct deposit of pay is required. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. This is a Career Program (CP) 13 - Supply Management position. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent DeCA employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent DeCA employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. This position may be terminated at any time before the established not-to-exceed date. U.S. citizen family members may be considered for Foreign National positions in the absence of qualified Foreign National employees. When a Foreign National (FN) position cannot be filled from within the current FN workforce, family member resumes will be screened to identify qualified family member applicants for the position. These applicants will be referred for consideration after military spouse preference and family member preference eligibles have been referred. Both U.S. citizen family members and non-U.S. citizen family members will receive equal consideration for available positions. Family members appointed to FN positions will be subject to displacement by FN employees who have rights to the position under Reduction in Force procedures.
