Department Details
Marshfield Medical Center Laboratory serves as the regional hub for all microbiology testing and the majority of molecular diagnostics for the Sanford-Marshfield Region. This fast-paced department is supported by a highly collaborative and experienced team that is committed to quality patient care and shared success.
This position is scheduled from 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, with a weekend commitment of approximately every third weekend and 1-2 holidays per year.
Medical Laboratory Scientist $27.50 - $44.00
Medical Laboratory Technician $22.50 - $34.50
Laboratory Technologist $23.75 - $34.50
Job Summary
Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Medical Laboratory Scientist
Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Medical Lab Technician
Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Laboratory Technologist
Bachelor’s degree in biology or other related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry required.
Demonstrated lab experience, including but not limited to college laboratory experience preferred.
