Job Description

The Grants & Contracts Manager serves as the dedicated financial management resource for the Metabolism and Lipids Program, a specialized clinical and translational research program with a substantial portfolio of industry-sponsored clinical trials, Academic Research Organization (ARO) agreements, investigator-initiated studies, and externally funded research projects.

This position is assigned exclusively to the Metabolism and Lipids Program and supports a single integrated study team consisting of Program faculty, research coordinators, project managers, regulatory personnel, and administrative leadership. The role has a significant focus on industry-sponsored clinical trials and serves as a primary liaison between the Program, Sponsored Projects Finance, industry sponsors, the Financial Administration of Clinical Trials Services (FACTS) office, and other institutional stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (master's preferred, ideally MBA). Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Research Administration, or a related field highly preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in grants & contracts administration within an academic medical center, research institution, or healthcare environment.

  • Experience managing industry-sponsored clinical trial agreements, clinical trial budgets, and research financial administration.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting both pre-award and post-award sponsored research administration.

  • Experience with ARO agreements (and/or other research services agreements) and multicenter studies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Program leadership to support the administration, financial oversight, growth, and compliance of the Metabolism and Lipids Program research portfolio.

  • Collaborates with Program leadership to develop research budgets, funding strategies, staffing projections, and financial plans.

  • Assists in the development, review, and management of budgets for industry-sponsored clinical trials, ARO agreements, federal grants, foundation awards, and other sponsored projects.

  • Serves as the primary Program resource for budgeting and financial workflows in OnCore, a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), including study budget development, coverage analysis support, invoice generation, sponsor payment tracking, revenue reconciliation, and accounts receivable management.

  • Maintains investigator biosketches, effort commitments, training certifications, regulatory approvals, and proposal materials.

  • Reviews grant proposals, clinical trial agreements, research contracts, and expenditures for compliance and accuracy.

  • Ensures submissions are routed through required regulatory and institutional committees.

  • Collaborates closely with FACTS office to support development, negotiation, activation, closeout of industry-sponsored clinical trial agreements.

  • Closely monitor sponsor invoicing, payment reconciliation, revenue collection, and billing issue resolution.

  • Coordinates budget updates related to protocol amendments, enrollment changes, and scope modifications.

  • Oversees administrative and financial aspects of ARO agreements and multicenter collaborations.

  • Analyzes monthly grant and contract activity and monitors expenditures and revenues.

  • Provides financial analyses, forecasts, budget projections, and reports to Program leadership.

  • Assists investigators and Program leadership in identifying funding opportunities.

  • Develops best practices, SOPs, tracking mechanisms, and reporting tools.

  • Partners with research operations staff to align grants administration with study operations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Compensation Statement

Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $93600.04 - $130000.11 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
