Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and varying hours as needed to ensure operational efficiencies. Weekends and holidays as needed for operational oversight.
Pay Range: $47.50 - $71.25
Major Responsibilities:
- Designs and directs the work of the team(s). Selects, coaches, and develops team(s). Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance by recognizing achievement, providing feedback, and administering progressive discipline when necessary.
- May develop and/or recommend operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.
- Designs and directs day-to-day EVS operations across all shifts, ensuring consistent execution of cleaning, disinfection, and patient throughput processes aligned with regulatory, infection prevention, and organizational standards.
- Leads and develops EVS managers and frontline teams, establishing clear expectations, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Implements standardized workflows and operational processes, including hospital logistics integration, to improve efficiency, patient flow, and service delivery outcomes.
- Collaborates with nursing, infection prevention, patient transport, and other departments to ensure alignment on priorities, resolve operational barriers, and support safe patient care environments.
- Monitors and analyzes key performance metrics (e.g., turnaround times, quality scores, patient experience feedback), identifying opportunities and leading improvement initiatives.
- Supports financial stewardship by managing labor resources and operating within budget parameters while identifying opportunities for cost control and efficiency.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS), infection prevention protocols, and organizational policies, proactively addressing any gaps.
- Leads service recovery efforts, addressing escalations and ensuring timely resolution of environmental concerns impacting patient care or experience.
- Provides input into strategic initiatives and participates in enterprise or facility-level projects impacting EVS operations and hospital logistics.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- None required; relevant certifications (e.g., CHESP) encouraged.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, Environmental Services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5–7 years of progressive multi-site leadership experience in Environmental Services, hospitality, or healthcare operations, including experience managing leaders or multiple functional areas.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strong operational leadership and decision-making skills in a complex healthcare environment
- Knowledge of environmental services standards, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead through influence and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
- Financial acumen related to labor management and operational budgets
- Strong communication, leadership development, and change management capabilities
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- May be exposed to infectious materials, chemicals, and cleaning agents.
- Requires the ability to respond to operational needs across all shifts, including occasional off-hours support.
Preferred Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification:
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) or equivalent.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a large acute care system
- Experience implementing hospital logistics or throughput optimization initiatives
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of Lean, process improvement, or performance improvement methodologies
- Experience leading large teams in a multi-shift, high-acuity environment
