RIGHT OF WAY AGENT
Help Deliver Critical Utility Infrastructure Projects
We're seeking a Right of Way Agent to support major utility infrastructure projects by securing the property rights needed for construction, upgrades, and maintenance activities. This role combines land acquisition, title research, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination to help keep important energy projects moving forward.
If you have experience in right of way, land acquisition, title research, real estate, utilities, or a related field and enjoy building relationships while working independently, we'd love to speak with you.
What You'll Do

Coordinate easements, access agreements, and temporary workspace agreements with property owners.

Serve as the primary point of contact for landowners and stakeholders throughout the acquisition process.

Conduct ownership and title research using deeds, plats, surveys, tax records, courthouse records, and public databases.

Prepare, process, and maintain right of way and easement documentation.

Partner with engineering, construction, and project teams to support project schedules and milestones.

Utilize GIS tools, mapping software, and Google Earth to identify property boundaries and support acquisition efforts.

Review project drawings and plans to determine property rights requirements.

Maintain accurate records, negotiation updates, and project documentation.

Collaborate with property owners, attorneys, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders to resolve issues and advance agreements.

Travel throughout the assigned territory to conduct field visits and stakeholder meetings.
Required Qualifications
-
1+ years of experience in right of way, title research, land acquisition, real estate, utilities, or a related field.

Experience researching property ownership and interpreting deeds, surveys, plats, and public records.

Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the project area.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience working on electric utility, energy, telecommunications, or infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with easement acquisition and right of way negotiations.

Experience using GIS tools, mapping software, or Google Earth.

Notary Public certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Understanding of construction projects, engineering plans, or project scheduling.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
