Full job description

As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you’ll help validate the performance of mechanical components and materials through hands-on lab work, precise documentation, and clear communication with the engineering team. If you enjoy building, testing, and turning results into actionable reports, this 100% onsite opportunity in San Jose, CA is a great place to apply your mechanical design and test expertise.

Job Title: Mechanical Test Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA (100% onsite)

Rate - $44/hr

What's the Job?

  • Create 3D modeling and develop 2D drawings for mechanical designs using mechanical design tools (preferably CreO).

  • Assemble switch prototypes in the lab and support hands-on mechanical build activities.

  • Help the team set up bench and chamber-based test environments to prepare for mechanical performance validation.

  • Verify performance of mechanical components and materials using reliability lab measurement equipment.

  • Deliver clear, accurate test reports to the team based on lab results and observations.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Strong 3D modeling and 2D drawing experience on mechanical design tools, with preference for CreO.

  • Fundamental understanding of reliability lab measurement equipment, including EMC scan, ESD gun, shaking table, environment chamber, and acoustic equipment.

  • Relevant industry, internship, project, or equivalent hands-on academic experience (preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and experience/working knowledge of PCB board placement (preferred).
