Full job description
MyOme’s mission is to provide clinically actionable genetic information to patients throughout their lives. We combine clinical-grade whole genome sequencing, advanced AI methods for genome interpretation, and seamless digital tools for doctors and patients to order and access results. Our team is composed of seasoned entrepreneurs, scientists, and operators, and we're backed by top-tier investors.
Position Overview:
MyOme is seeking an experienced and innovative senior wet lab scientist who can both guide development efforts and contribute to our NGS assay development roadmap. This person will initially lead efforts to incorporate RNASeq into MyOme’s clinical testing workflow and evaluate additional new technologies. The ideal candidate has proven experience standing up clinical NGS assays and is able to think critically and creatively to deliver results.
What You'll Do:
-
Develop a comprehensive project plan for bringing RNASeq in house, covering development milestones, hiring needs, validation strategy, budget, and quality control
-
Lead the technical development and validation of RNASeq assays, ensuring they meet MyOme's quality and performance standards
-
Partner with automation engineers to design efficient, scalable wet lab workflows suited for clinical scale throughput and collaborate with clinical lab staff to ensure new assays meet regulatory and clinical laboratory requirements
-
Work closely with the research bioinformatics team to align wet lab processes with downstream data analysis and pipeline needs
-
Mentor and guide wet lab scientists, providing technical direction on assay development and validation work
-
Expand the in house assay portfolio over time by leading evaluation and (if warranted) development efforts for additional assays (e.g. Illumina TruPath, proteomics)
-
Present project plans, progress, and findings to senior leadership
-
Guide the publication and presentation plan for assay components as well as IP strategy
What You'll Need:
-
Advanced degree (PhD) in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
-
8+ years of wet lab experience, including hands-on work with RNASeq and next generation sequencing technologies. Experience with additional analytes (e.g., proteomics, methylation) is a plus
-
Experience developing and executing project plans that include technical development, validation, budget, and quality control components
-
Familiarity with clinical laboratory requirements and standards (e.g., CLIA/CAP) and experience bringing assays to a scalable and clinically ready state
-
Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across wet lab, bioinformatics, clinical, and engineering teams
-
Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate scientific and technical concepts to non-experts
Location, Compensation, and Benefits:
-
Location: Onsite at our Menlo Park, CA laboratory campus
-
Compensation: Annual salary range is $170,000 - $185,000, commensurate with experience. This role is also eligible for equity.
