Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Engineer, Reporting/BI Team 2 for a top enterprise software client. This candidate will join a small, highly collaborative Scrum team responsible for enhancing the reporting and business intelligence capabilities of a complex equity-management platform supporting a strategic Fortune 100 client. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in both C# application development and Oracle SQL/PL/SQL, with a strong background in enterprise reporting, BI solutions, and complex query optimization. This engineer will own features from requirements through production release, improve reporting performance across sophisticated data models, collaborate with client stakeholders, and contribute to scalable reporting architecture. This is a hands-on individual-contributor opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and incorporating AI-first development practices into daily delivery.

  • Serve as a hands-on individual contributor on a small Reporting and BI Scrum team
  • Split development responsibilities approximately evenly between C# application-tier features and Oracle PL/SQL
  • Own reporting and BI features from requirements gathering through production release
  • Write and review production-quality C#, .NET, Oracle SQL, and PL/SQL code
  • Create Engineering Design Documents when appropriate
  • Contribute to report-design patterns, data-model design, and query architecture
  • Diagnose and rebuild poorly performing SQL and real-time data-cube queries
  • Optimize Oracle performance using execution-plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, materialized views, and other read-optimization approaches
  • Design reporting data models that reduce real-time computations and improve report responsiveness
  • Apply query-performance benchmarks, code-review standards, and release-readiness requirements
  • Partner with Product Management and engineering leadership to define, scope, and sequence reporting initiatives
  • Engage client stakeholders to clarify reporting requirements and identify underlying business needs
  • Recommend scalable platform solutions rather than one-off client customizations
  • Collaborate with QA on test coverage, quality gates, and release readiness
  • Work with Solution Architects, Lead Engineers, and Principal Engineers on data architecture and cross-team technical decisions
  • Identify and communicate delivery risks, technical blockers, and scope concerns
  • Incorporate AI-assisted development tools into daily engineering workflows Support organizational goals for AI-authored pull requests and AI-assisted code reviews

Skills and Requirements

  • 8 to 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in enterprise SaaS environments

  • Strong specialization in business intelligence and reporting

  • Deep hands-on expertise in C# and .NET Framework and/or .NET Core

  • Ability to independently design, build, and deliver application-tier features

  • Deep Oracle SQL and PL/SQL expertise

  • Experience with query tuning, execution-plan optimization, indexing strategies, materialized views, and large-dataset performance optimization

  • Experience diagnosing and rebuilding poorly performing SQL against complex, non-flattened relational data models

  • Real-time reporting-query optimization experience

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or a comparable platform

  • Ability to design reporting solutions for complex data models

  • Experience independently owning feature delivery from requirements and design through implementation and release

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Devin.AI, or similar

  • Strong code-review and SQL-review discipline

  • Experience establishing query-performance benchmarks and maintaining definition-of-done standards

  • Strong client-facing communication skills

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional

  • Direct hands-on experience with Logi Analytics or Logi Symphony

  • Experience designing data-cube architectures and pre-aggregation strategies

  • Advanced Oracle read-optimization experience, including query rewrite, result cache, analytical functions, and materialized views

  • Familiarity with Azure cloud data services and cloud-native reporting patterns

  • Financial services, equity compensation, or other regulated-industry experience Experience in reporting environments where accuracy and auditability are critical
