Location: Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) Shift: Rotation (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 Worker Type: Regular Exemption Status: No Job Summary: Take the next step in your nursing journey as a Student Nurse Assistant (SNA) in the Float Pool! This advanced-level role gives nursing students the opportunity to build confidence and strengthen clinical skills through hands-on patient care across the hospital. SNAs provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff while gaining valuable experience through department-specific orientation, competency development, and structured mentorship. Job Duties:

Assist with activities for daily living, non-invasive patient care tasks.

Document care and observations accurately in the electronic medical record.

Promptly report changes in patient condition to licensed personnel.

Collect and transport specimens per policy.
-
Provide one-to-one patient safety observation as assigned.

Assist with patient transfers and transport.
-
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
-
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ethical behavior in all interactions.

Participate in orientation, training, and ongoing development sessions.
-
Perform point-of-care testing and quality control procedures as trained.

Transport non-controlled medications and blood products per policy.
-
Assist with procedures under direct supervision.

Collaborate with nursing staff to support individualized patient care plans.

Apply clinical judgment in routine situations with guidance.
-
Engage in unit-based learning activities and professional development seminars.
-
Demonstrate increasing independence and initiative in clinical settings.
-
Participate in clinical observations and evaluations to enhance assessment skills.

Perform advanced patient care tasks under supervision

Assist with preparation, storage, and delivery of breast milk and pediatric formulas.

Apply critical thinking and clinical decision-making in complex care scenarios.

Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and students.

Participate in regulatory readiness activities.
-
Co-lead patient care activities and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
-
Attend advanced seminars focused on transition to practice, leadership, and evidence-based care.
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details:
- Must be enrolled and remain enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
- Must successfully complete a 2-week orientation training in December
- Per diem position with rotating shifts
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required) Experience:
