CIVIL ENGINEER, STARBASE DEVELOPMENT (RESIDENTIAL)

As a member of the Starbase Development team you will lead the delivery of civil design and engineering projects across residential, commercial, and municipal settings. You will manage projects from conception through construction completion and closeout, coordinating with stakeholders, engineers and construction teams across multiple disciplines to build-out the Starbase campus as the gateway to Mars.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for civil projects

  • Perform calculations supporting the civil infrastructure design of cut/fill, grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality and distribution

  • Oversee the civil aspects of construction in the field, including resolving design and construction conflicts in the field in real time, quality control, testing, and commissioning of systems

  • Collaborate on civil design projects with architectural design teams, construction teams, utility operational teams, facilities maintenance groups, and other project stakeholders

  • Maintain positive relationships with internal utility stakeholders, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), contractors and subcontractors

  • Manage project controls, prepare cost estimates and project schedules; actively drives projects to meet target budgets and timelines

  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time, prioritizing pragmatic, fast-moving solutions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or engineering discipline

  • 2+ years of experience in civil technical design

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with residential or commercial site development or infrastructure projects (utilities, land platting and subdivision, roadways, amenities)

  • Experience with grading and paving plans, cut/fill analyses, hydrological analysis, and stormwater design and management

  • Experience with landscaping design

  • Working knowledge of power and network distribution systems, water distribution and wastewater collection systems

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software and Civil 3D

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated and works autonomously and efficiently in a dynamic team environment

  • Licensed engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires being onsite – remote work not considered

  • Occasional travel to support other spaceport development projects (up to 20%)

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
