Full job description

What You'll Do

As a Data Analyst II, you will be a key analytics partner on a cross‑functional product team comprised of Data Engineering, Data Analytics, and Product Management. In this role, you will develop insights through general analytics and statistical modeling, examine and identify data patterns and trends, and deliver presentations or dashboards that support data-driven storytelling and business decisions.

  • Beginner/Intermediate Data Preparation: Utilizes best practices in data preparation, data quality, analytics, and dashboard design to provide business partners with trusted and actionable insights.

  • Beginner/Intermediate Modeling Skills: Performs statistical modeling on existing data sets. Develop analytic models that support business initiatives. Effectively utilize sophisticated tools/technologies to mine data sources providing relevant information in a consumable manner. Familiar with common statistical methods and applications (A/B testing, probability, regression).

  • Examines and identifies data patterns and trends to help answer business questions, provide insights, and improve data-driven decision making.

  • Beginner/Intermediate Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Consulting with our business partners to use the data available to investigate issues facing the business, without always having a well-defined hypothesis. Understanding of the issues related to the decision-making process; ability to analyze situations fully and accurately, and reach productive decisions.

  • Beginner/Intermediate Visualization Skills: Able to effectively articulate insights to help stakeholders answer the most critical questions. Create compelling written, numeric and visual summaries.

  • Applies data validation and quality assurance practices to ensure analytics solutions are accurate, reliable, and aligned with stakeholder expectations.

  • Design, build, maintain, and continuously improve analytics products, dashboards, and reporting solutions aligned to business and product objectives.

  • Partner with data engineers and fellow analysts throughout the analytics lifecycle to source, validate, interpret, and communicate data that supports business decisions.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business, Technical, or Analytical field (e.g., Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or related field).

  • 2+ years of Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or related analytical experience (e.g. mathematics, engineering or financial analysis).

  • Experience using data to solve complex business problems and influence decision making.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences.

  • Proven attention to detail and commitment to data quality.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical and business disciplines, contribute to shared solutions, and incorporate diverse perspectives.

  • Comfortable working in agile, cross-functional teams and contributing to shared team objectives.

Preferred experience with:

  • Power BI or other Business intelligence applications (Domo, Looker, Qlik, Tableau).

  • Data querying, transformation, and processing languages such as SQL, Python, Power BI DAX/M Query, or SAS.

  • Operational, enterprise, and analytical relational/non-relational data stores such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2.

  • Version control and collaborative development practices using Git, GitHub or other tools.

  • Data modeling, reporting, and self-service analytics solutions.

  • Dashboard and visualization design.

  • Data storytelling and executive-level communication.

  • Insurance industry experience.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$75000 - $105000 / year

Salary Details

The following salary ranges reflect market-specific compensation for this position across multiple job levels. Candidates will be evaluated to determine the appropriate job level based on their skills and experience.

  • Data Analyst II: $75,000 - $88,000 / year

  • Data Analyst III: $88,000 - $105,000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role is located in our Des Moines, Iowa office and offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
