Job Title: Sanitation Worker

Job Description

The sanitation worker cleans and sanitizes industrial equipment and facility areas to maintain a bacteria-free and contaminant-free environment in a production setting. This role uses a variety of tools and cleaning methods to ensure all surfaces and equipment meet strict cleanliness and safety standards, while working efficiently within established timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Clean stainless steel equipment and concrete floors using common tools such as shovels, rakes, hoses, brooms, and brushes.

  • Inspect assigned areas after cleaning to ensure work is complete and meets sanitation standards.

  • Operate steam cleaners and foamers to apply cleaning solutions as directed.

  • Safely apply, use, and remove cleaning chemicals in accordance with procedures.

  • Maintain, repair, and replace personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure safe working conditions.

  • Assist other sanitation workers with cleaning tasks and equipment handling when needed.

  • Move and transport wheelbarrows, bins, and totes weighing up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.

  • Assist with groundskeeping activities, including mowing and garbage removal, when required.

  • Follow all safety precautions, including chemical handling guidelines and lock-out procedures for equipment.

  • Work at a fast pace and complete assigned tasks within given deadlines.

  • Operate a 200 psi high-pressure hose safely and effectively.

  • Crawl under low equipment to reach and clean difficult areas.

  • Train to mix and prepare chemical cleaning solutions according to safety and usage instructions.

  • Obtain and maintain forklift certification if assigned to operate powered industrial trucks.

  • Adapt to working in loud or cold environments as required by assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Experience performing cleaning, janitorial, or sanitation tasks in industrial, warehouse, food production, or food processing environments.

  • Ability to use cleaning tools such as shovels, rakes, hoses, brooms, and brushes to clean equipment and floors.

  • Capability to operate a 200 psi high-pressure hose safely.

  • Ability to safely apply and remove cleaning chemicals such as chlorine following established procedures.

  • Skill in operating steam cleaners and foamers to apply cleaning solutions.

  • Physical ability to move wheelbarrows, bins, and totes up to 50 pounds safely.

  • Ability to crawl under low equipment to reach and clean confined or hard-to-access areas.

  • Capacity to work at a fast pace and meet deadlines in a production environment.

  • Commitment to following all safety precautions, including chemical safety and lock-out procedures.

  • Comfort working in loud or cold environments when required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial cleaning, sanitation, janitorial work, or warehouse cleaning is beneficial.

  • Experience in food production or food processing environments is an advantage.

  • Willingness to obtain forklift certification if assigned to operate forklifts or other powered industrial trucks.

  • Willingness to be trained to mix and prepare chemical cleaning solutions according to safety standards.

  • Ability to assist with groundskeeping duties, including mowing and garbage removal.

  • Reliability in checking schedules daily and adjusting to variable start times.

  • No additional language requirements beyond the ability to understand and follow instructions and safety procedures.

Work Environment

This position operates in an industrial production facility that may include food processing, warehouse, and sanitation areas. The work environment can be loud and may involve exposure to cold conditions. You will regularly use tools such as shovels, rakes, hoses, brooms, brushes, steam cleaners, foamers, and a 200 psi high-pressure hose, as well as work with approved cleaning chemicals including chlorine. Tasks may require crawling under low equipment and moving heavy bins or totes. The day shift typically starts between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and start times can change, so you must be comfortable checking the schedule daily and adjusting accordingly. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be maintained, repaired, or replaced as needed to ensure safety while working.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moses Lake, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.10 - $19.10/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
