Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for a Lead Cybersecurity Engineer / ISSM, SYD 84 (NH-2210-04, GS-14/15 equivalent). Description: The Department of War is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking leader to serve as the Cyberspace Warfare Branch Chief. In this critical leadership role, you will dedicate at least 25% of your time to direct supervisory management, leading a diverse team of military, civilian, and contractor personnel while setting priorities, scheduling operations, and mentoring staff. You will direct the operational activities of the Cyberspace Warfare Branch, ensuring full compliance with legal frameworks while aligning cyberspace plans and strategic initiatives directly with United States Space Force (USSF) and Headquarters Combined Forces Command (HQ CFC) missions. Ideal Candidate: Ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to comprehend a wide range of policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to Cyberspace Warfare. Serves as Chief, Cyberspace Warfare Branch, Space Control Division, Headquarters Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC). Subject matter expert to support cyberspace secure and defend operations of USSF mission systems. To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory, employees. To oversee tasking, priorities and resourcing efforts for the branch and communicate and advocate across Division/HQ CFC and to external organizations. Background: Direct the operational activities of the Cyberspace Warfare Branch, ensuring full compliance with legal frameworks while aligning cyberspace plans and strategic initiatives directly with United States Space Force (USSF) and Headquarters Combined Forces Command (HQ CFC) missions. Key responsibilities include coordinating the integration of Cyberspace Warfare capabilities within Special Access Programs (SAP), leading next-generation cyber weapon system exploration, and driving cyber warfare collaboration. To excel, candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of USSF and Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) cyberspace policies, alongside practical experience in cyberspace operations principles, space mission system architectures, and risk mitigation. Exceptional communication, organizational leadership, and the ability to advocate for emerging cyber technologies (such as cloud architectures and advanced cryptography) through corporate and Service-level channels are essential for success in this high-impact national security mission.
