RICE Engineer

Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a RICE Engineer at our RICE power generation sites in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, Union Grove, Wisconsin, Negaunee, Michigan, or Pelkie, Michigan location.

This position is part of a job family (Associate Engineer, Engineer, and Senior Engineer) where experience will be the determining factor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex engineering designs, construction and material specifications and project schedules, design and implementation of material and equipment evaluation methods, preparation of feasibility studies and/or cost-benefit analyses of proposed projects and/or review of third party construction plans.

  • Lead operations and statistical data analysis and makes recommendations based on best available information.

  • Maintain and manage equipment information database systems.

  • Assists/Leads complex Root Cause Analysis activities and performs peer checks on Root Cause Analyses.

  • Knowledgeable in applicable codes, standards and regulations. Updates drawings and other engineering documentation and maintains corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.

  • Demonstrates ownership of assigned equipment. Knowledgeable of design basis for a variety of systems. Supplies system and plant wide knowledge to troubleshoot and improve performance and reliability.

  • Understand and utilize performance monitoring tools. Independently performs calculations, tests, data analysis’ and engineering evaluations to develop recommendations to maintain and improve plant system and equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.

  • Participates in long-term budget process for capital projects and management of the O&M budget. Selects alternatives for projects based on the results of technical, economic and regulatory analyses. Prepares

  • RFP's, coordinates the evaluation process and provides a recommendation. Performs contract administration and construction inspections for complex multidisciplinary projects. Provides detailed interpretation of drawings, specification, conditions, requirements and agreements.

  • Participates in project teams on moderately complex assignments. Supports management of day to day operation and maintenance of the facility, and planning, scheduling and execution of scheduled outages.

  • Travel and overnight stay required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • Valid driver’s license and meet the company’s requirements for driving

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering

  • Project Management experience

  • Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine (RICE) operations and maintenance experience

  • Power Generation Asset operation and maintenance management experience

End Date: 09/30/2026

Pay Range Minimum: $68,436.68

Pay Range Maximum: $135,761.08

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
