The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a passionate and student-focused JAG Instructor to help youth develop the academic, leadership, and employability skills needed for long-term success. This position is ideal for an educator or workforce development professional who enjoys mentoring students, building community partnerships, and helping young people achieve their personal and career goals. As a JAG Instructor, you will provide classroom instruction, career readiness training, and individualized support designed to help students graduate, develop workplace skills, and successfully transition into employment, post-secondary education, or other positive life pathways. You will serve as an advocate, mentor, and role model while coordinating activities that promote leadership, personal growth, and career exploration. Bachelor’s degree, Teaching Certificate or CTTIE certificate

Possession of a valid driver's license and has transportation (with proper insurance) to perform job duties

There may be additions and alternatives to the above qualifications as the Office of Juvenile Justice determines appropriate.It is the responsibility of the JAG Specialist to provide relevant and challenging classroom and work-based learning experiences for the required number of participants per the selected JAG model. The JAG Specialist should be committed to developing students' personal, leadership and employability skills to ensure graduation from high school and positive post-graduate outcomes. Job Duties:
- Provides career readiness instruction by teaching leadership, employability, and life skills through the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program.
- Supports student success and graduation through mentoring, tutoring, guidance, and referral services.
- Develops and coordinates program activities including classroom instruction, work-based learning, community engagement, and leadership development opportunities.
- Monitors student progress and helps students achieve required competencies in career development, job readiness, leadership, and personal growth.
- Builds partnerships with schools, employers, families, and community organizations to support positive student outcomes.
- Tracks program performance measures including graduation, employment, placement, and post-secondary success rates.
- Maintains program records and reporting requirements and participates in required trainings and professional development activities.
Position-Specific Details: Work Location: This vacancy is located at Bridge City Center for Youth in Bridge City, Louisiana. Appointment Type: Full time Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per work day Compensation: $36.18/hr The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)
