With over 78 years of serving our nation's Veterans, the Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) is currently seeking a dynamic Supervisory Sales Clerk for our Cleveland, OH VA Medical Center Canteen. Duties

Major Duties: Safeguards and manages cash, including petty cash and withdrawals, ensuring secure handling and accurate record-keeping. Monitors and verifies cash deposits and withdrawals, reviews sales records, and conducts regular account checks. Reports discrepancies, including missing cash or items, promptly and accurately. Maintains precise inventory records to ensure efficient operations and cost control. Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including signage, cash registers, and ensuring a secure and organized environment. Maintains a visually appealing facility by overseeing cleanliness and organization while strategically arranging merchandise displays. Provides comprehensive staff training, conducts performance evaluations, and assigns specific tasks to ensure efficiency. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

As a Condition of Employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider: - Your performance and conduct - The needs and interests of the agency - Whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government - Whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service Upon completion of your trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Additional Conditions of Employment include: -Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. -Subject to background/security investigation. Qualifications

Requirements for Consideration: A current, valid REAL ID is required to work at Veterans Canteen Service. ServSafe Manager certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire Must have a minimum of one year of direct supervisory experience in retail. Strong hands-on leadership skills with a focus on service and hospitality are essential. A minimum of 3 years of customer service experience is required. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel) and experience with Point-of-Sale systems are required. Candidates must also possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
