Full job description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI) is seeking a Resident Treatment Technician to join our team! This is a full-time position with variable scheduling possibilities and opportunity for advancement, growth, and development. In addition to the base pay rate, there is an available shift differential of $0.90 per hour for second shift. IMHI is in search of an energetic and talented Resident Treatment Technician to perform the following duties:

  • Orient to and learn the position of Resident Treatment Worker which provides direct nursing care to patients on- and off-ward (campus) as prescribed by the Treatment Plan under the direction of the Ward Nurse and/or Nurse Supervisor and performs basic para-professional nursing or therapeutic work in the care or treatment of residents.
  • Become a Certified Mandt Instructor and teach and review Mandt techniques with employees in the performance of their job duties.
  • Lead safety efforts on the inpatient wards, respond to all escalating situations on- and off-ward, monitor the patients in their milieu, and role model approved Mandt techniques in de-escalation.

Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position. IMHI provides inpatient treatment and acute psychiatric services, including individualized treatment plans and support for children and adolescent patients to continue their education. Individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well.
