Job Description

Insight Global is currently seeking a Project Assistant to join a client in the commercial construction industry. This individual will support Project Managers with project coordination, administrative functions, and documentation management for commercial construction projects throughout the Richmond market. Daily responsibilities include reviewing construction drawings and specifications, maintaining project records, tracking RFIs and submittals, coordinating project documentation, and assisting with communication between field and office teams. The Project Assistant will help ensure projects remain organized and that critical tasks, deadlines, and project information are properly tracked throughout the project lifecycle. This role will provide exposure to estimating, project management, procurement, scheduling, and customer coordination while working alongside experienced construction professionals. The ideal candidate is a motivated and career-oriented individual who wants to learn the construction business, contribute to a growing team, and develop into an Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and potentially future branch leadership through internal growth and mentorship opportunities.

Skills and Requirements

  • Construction Management degree or equivalent construction industry experience
  • 0-3 years of construction experience, project coordination experience, or internship experience within commercial construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Team-first attitude with a desire to grow within an organization long-term
  • Interest in developing a career in project management
  • Stable work history demonstrating commitment and reliability
  • Recent Construction Management graduate
  • Experience with commercial ceilings, drywall, Division 9, Division 10, or specialty interiors
  • Exposure to estimating, material takeoffs, project coordination, or project administration
  • Experience working for a subcontractor or general contractor
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk, or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Internship or co-op experience supporting commercial construction projects
  • Exposure to RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and document control processes
  • Candidates interested in helping grow a business and developing into future leadership roles
