Position Description:
Responsibilities include processing provider claims, using computer system to record and report patient information,
patient case finding, financial screening, program enrollment facilitation, non-medical counseling, case tracking, and
preparing all necessary case documentation. Person in this position will serve as program spokesperson and representative to participating health care providers, local communities and local health agencies; therefore, this position requires a positive and professional attitude when working with patients, community leaders, and local health agency and state agency care workers. Person in this position will be expected to travel between local health-agencies in the fulfillment of their duties and may be asked to make occasional home visits. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions; requires a high degree of contact with patients and families, clinic staff and outside support agencies. Travel and ability to respond to needs during off- duty hours may be required in unusual situations.
Texas Tech Health El Paso (TTEP) is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas.
Additionally, this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities. All work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP.

Major/Essential Functions:

Screens clients for eligibility on BCCS, Family Planning, Healthy Texas Woman and institutional programs and if eligible, enrolls clients in program for services. Assists clients in completing application for CHIP Perinatal Program, Medicaid, and the Bayer Program.

Creates files for each client, enters information in the appropriate database and follows-up on application status and appointments. Contacts clients to follow-up on their Medicaid, CHIP Perinatal, Healthy Texas Women's and Bayer application.

Schedules patient appointments for Ob/Gyn services. Verifies healthcare benefits utilizing provider portal for various insurances. Communicates with community healthcare providers regarding referrals and transfers. Ensures all necessary paper work is received and scanned into EMR prior to the date of patients appointment.

Schedules medical appointments and procedures for community healthcare providers and correctional detention facilities. Obtains prior authorization form for correctional detention facility as needed for medical procedures. Contacts correctional detention facility personnel to follow-up on clearance for appointments and/or procedures.

Participates in outreach and in-reach activities. Follows-up on outreach efforts. Mails out renewal notices monthly for the various grant programs. Works with providers and staff to meet performance measures for the grant programs. Occasional travel required.

Screens patients for potential abuse situations. Reports any suspected abuse cases to the state.

Updates financial information and demographics in Athena IDX. Enters patient information for the various programs on a database or spreadsheet for tracking purposes. Answers phone lines, relays messages by phone, in writing or electronically.

Remain current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.

Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
