Test Engineer
Job Description
The Test Engineer designs, develops, and enhances test equipment hardware and software for power electronics and battery systems. This role combines hands-on work with test equipment, software scripting, and close collaboration with production and design teams to create optimized, reliable, and well-documented test solutions.
Responsibilities

Design, develop, and enhance test equipment hardware and software in both individual and team settings.

Demonstrate proficiency in scripting using Python
-
Use SQL databases and queries to efficiently manage, store, and analyze test data.

Collaborate with the production team to understand and incorporate production constraints into test strategies and equipment design.

Work closely with design teams to define optimized test specifications that balance product yield and quality requirements.

Assist in the mechanical and electrical design of test equipment, with particular focus on high-voltage power electronics and battery systems.

Support debug and validation activities to ensure sustained performance, reliability, and safety of test equipment.

Take responsibility for fully documenting all aspects of assigned projects, including test procedures, equipment configurations, and design decisions.

Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, tools, and methodologies across hardware and software testing.

Apply software test engineering practices to validate test software and ensure accurate, repeatable test results.
Essential Skills
-
Proven experience in software testing, test engineering, and test development for hardware and software systems.
-
Strong Python programming skills, including scripting for test automation and data processing.
-
Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language such as Golang, C, C++, C#, or Java.

Solid understanding of SQL databases and queries for managing and analyzing test data.
-
Hands-on experience with test equipment and hardware test setups in a lab or production environment.

Knowledge of power electronics, including high and low voltage systems up to 24 V and 480 V.

Experience in software test engineering, including designing, executing, and documenting test cases.
-
Ability to collaborate effectively with production and design teams to align test strategies with product and manufacturing requirements.

Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create clear, comprehensive project and test documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

Experience with LabVIEW for test automation and test equipment control.

Experience in hardware testing, including mechanical and electrical aspects of test equipment.

Experience working with battery systems and high-voltage power electronics in a test environment.

Familiarity with test equipment integration and validation in production settings.

Ability to troubleshoot and debug both hardware and software issues in test systems.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Comfort working on cross-functional teams and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Work Environment
This position operates in a technical lab and production-oriented environment focused on test equipment for power electronics and battery systems. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with expected overtime as project and production needs require. Work involves hands-on interaction with test equipment, hardware setups, and software tools such as Python, SQL, and potentially LabVIEW. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and collaboration with engineering and production teams, with access to specialized test instruments and power electronic systems.

This is a Contract position based out of Katy, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
