Position: Senior Accountant – Planetree International

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department Team at Griffin Health. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for completing the month end financial close for Planetree International as well as providing support to the accounting function of the entire Griffin Health System. This is a hands-on role reporting to the Griffin Health Controller and working closely with Planetree's VP, Corporate Services.

Responsibilities as a Senior Accountant at Griffin Health, you will:

  • Independently complete the monthly general ledger closing process for Planetree which includes preparation of all monthly journal entries, account analysis and reconciliations.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and payroll accounts.

  • Liaison with Planetree staff regarding client invoicing, collections, reconciliations and revenue integrity.

  • Perform consolidating and inter-company reconciliations, including reconciliation of Planetree financial activity between QuickBooks Online and the Griffin Health Meditech general ledger.

  • Maintain accounting procedures, account mappings, templates and financial schedules between QuickBooks Online and Meditech.

  • Perform budget to variance account analysis for each of Planetree's departments, regions and programs.

  • Assist in the treasury management function of the Health System, including monitoring Planetree cash balances and upcoming cash requirements.

  • Coordinate with Griffin Health Accounts Payable and shared-service teams on payment requests, coding and documentation.

  • Assist Planetree leadership and staff with accounting related questions.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts.

  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and provide support documentation to information requests from Senior Management and Planetree leadership

  • Provide audit and preparation of form 990 support as necessary.

  • Complete other special projects as requested

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting [PREFERRED], Minimum of 5 years accounting experience required and experience in healthcare, nonprofit or public accounting experience a plus, Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting, Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online strongly preferred including invoicing, accounts receivable and reconciliations, Experience working with general ledger (GL) systems, or other similar major GL systems, Advanced computer skills required particularly with Word and Excel including experience with sorting, importing, exporting and manipulating large data files, CPA or other relevant accounting credential preferred but not required, Very detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills, Capable of working under tight time frame to complete the monthly financial close.
