Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Director of Infrastructure and Operations for a leading academic healthcare organization in Austin, Texas. This individual will own the strategic direction and daily performance of enterprise infrastructure and end-user technology services across clinical, research, education, and administrative environments. The Director will lead Azure cloud operations, Epic infrastructure oversight, enterprise networking, endpoint services, service desk transformation, disaster recovery, and infrastructure planning for a new hospital. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who combines deep healthcare infrastructure expertise with a strong customer-service mindset and the ability to build a responsive, hospital-grade technology operation.

Skills and Requirements

7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure leadership experience, including team leadership and operational ownership. 5+ years managing infrastructure and support operations within a healthcare provider or hospital environment. 4+ years supporting Epic EHR infrastructure, with working knowledge of functions such as ECSA, WSSA, ODBA, server administration, client deployment, capacity planning, and hosted environments. Experience leading both back-end infrastructure and end-user support, desktop support, customer success, or service desk teams. Demonstrated ownership of service-level performance, user satisfaction, and continuous service improvement. Experience developing support models for a 24x7x365 hospital or similarly critical environment. Strong Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure experience, including governance, networking, security, capacity planning, and cost optimization. Experience overseeing enterprise networking, endpoints, servers, data centers, cloud platforms, telecommunications, and related infrastructure services. Proven vendor management, contract negotiation, SLA management, and budget ownership experience. Working knowledge of ITSM principles and service delivery frameworks. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare, or a related field. Willingness and ability to work on-site in Austin. ServiceNow experience, particularly implementation, adoption, or service management transformation. Experience planning or building infrastructure for a new hospital or healthcare facility. High-performance or GPU computing experience supporting large-scale data aggregation, research, cloud, or AI workloads. Experience supporting edge computing, AI-enabled clinical applications, biomedical devices, or real-time device integration. Process automation, self-service, or support-ticket reduction experience. Experience in an academic medical center supporting clinical care, research, and education. Experience partnering with a university or centralized health system IT organization. Microsoft Fabric, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365, or Entra ID experience. Clear career progression with increasing management and operational responsibility. Master’s degree in a related field. ITIL, Microsoft Azure, PMP, TOGAF, or CISSP certification.
